Training Design, Design Thinking Workshop
With the success of our Smart Farming 101 & 102 modules, we have conducted a DT workshop for our third module, focusing on Smart Agri Technologies.
How might we design a Smart Agriculture Technologies toolkit for our LSAs and farm stakeholders?
A full-day design thinking workshop where different stakeholders from the rice farming community designed a possible toolkit about Smart Agriculture Technologies (SATs) for their stakeholders.
The Philippines' farming industry is still underdeveloped, leading to high labor and production costs but low returns for farmers. Together with the DA-ATI, we hope to create a module on different Smart Agriculture Technologies to help our farmers become competitive. To make this module successful, we conducted a design thinking workshop with stakeholders from the rice farming community so we can know first-hand the experience of our beneficiaries.
Using the project brief, the team personalized its design thinking curriculum to fit the context of our rice farming community. Since the time was also limited, pre-workshop preparations was key. Participants were given in-advance things they would need to prepare, including the list of potential interviewees they would talk to during the empathy phase. The workshop was also in hybrid mode, so facilitators played an important factor in keeping energy participant high and in the right track.
