Celebrating our first step into combating misinformation and disinformation

This November 22, Limitless Lab will carry out two big events — free #DigiTalino training at Barangay Buayang Bato, Mandaluyong City, and a Fellowship Meeting with selected Master Trainers of the ASEAN Digital Literacy Programme at Lub d Makati.

#DigiTalino is a 2-hour workshop designed to teach the underserved sectors about digital literacy and equip them with the tools they need to fight against misinformation and disinformation or the so-called fake news.

The November 22 session will provide an opportunity for the ASEAN Foundation to observe the rollout of the ASEAN Digital Literacy Programme and interview its end beneficiaries as the organization conducts its monitoring visit to the Philippines. The training will be facilitated by Abad Enriquez Jr. of Region II, one of Limitless Lab’s top-performing Master Trainers.

On the other hand, the Fellowship Meeting will celebrate the milestones of the ASEAN Digital Literacy Programme in combating misinformation and disinformation in the Philippines. It will recognize and reward the top-performing Master Trainers in the country, who have made significant contributions to training over 10,000 Filipinos from underserved sectors. The Fellowship Meeting will be hosted by Angela Maree Encomienda of Limitless Lab and Paolo Ordonio of Break the Fake Movement.

The program will include special messages from Gabriel Billones Jr., Founder and President of Break the Fake Movement; Joie Cruz, Founder and CEO of Limitless Lab; Cresentia Novianti, Program Manager of the ASEAN Foundation; and Asec. Dexter Galban, Assistant Secretary for Youth Affairs and Special Concerns of the Department of Education. The program will also include discussions and activities for the Master Trainers, followed by an awarding of certificates and merchandise and photo opportunities.

The Fellowship Meeting only marks the first of many steps we’re taking to fight misinformation and disinformation in the Philippines. The ASEAN Digital Literacy Programme will continue to run until 2024, with many surprises still in store. As Master Trainers continue to implement free #DigiTalino training in schools, organizations, and communities nationwide until December 2022, Limitless Lab looks forward to the sustained success of the ASEAN Digital Literacy Programme!
