Mapalengke! declared champion at first-ever Bayanivation Pasig
MANILA, Philippines – A better market-going experience through easy navigation is waiting for the market-goers of the Pasig Mega Market.
Mapalengke!, a project focusing on making the market more accessible for Pasigueños, won the pitch on innovative ideas for the Pasig Mega Market during the Pasig City leg of Bayanivation.

The winning project proposes to design maps, signages, and directories around the market for a more efficient and easier way for consumers to go around the area.
The team will also sell promotional items such as eco bags that would contain the market map designed by the team. The group will receive a seed fund of Php 30,000 to implement their project.
“Konsultasyon bago aksyon, hindi pwede itrato natin ang mga taga-palengke bilang problema lamang. Kailangan din natin silang isama sa proseso at pamamahala dahil alam nila hindi lamang ang problema sa palengke kundi alam din nila ang solusyon dito,” Quin Cruz, a member of the Mapalengke! team, said.
Team PalengKwenTorship bagged the second place amounting to Php 20,000 for their proposal on addressing inclusivity issues concerning ambulant vendors in the Pasig Mega Market.
They aim to improve the policy in relation to promoting equal representation and unity between the market’s diverse community.
Lastly, team Mercado Markado Project placed third and won a seed fund of Php 10,000 for their proposal on renovating the Pasig Mega Market area to provide a safer, accessible and inclusive market by improving its services.
The three winners emerged from a total of 7 teams. The Bayanivation bootcamp gathered 26 selected Youth Fellows and 23 experienced key stakeholders consisting of market vendors, association officers, and LGU personnel.
The winning teams will also receive continuous mentoring and support by the Pasig City local government and Limitless Lab after the program.
In partnership with the City Government of Pasig and the US Embassy in Manila, Limitless Lab held the Pasig City leg of Bayanivation Town Hall: Pitch to the People last March 1 at Tanghalang Pasigueño, where selected Youth Fellows and LGU personnel presented their co-created solutions for the Pasig Mega Market.
Bayanivation, a portmanteau of the words “bayan”, “bayani” and “innovation,” is fully supported by the U.S. Embassy in Manila through the 2019 U.S. Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AIEDF) by the U.S. State Department in Washington DC.
Bayanivation will also be piloted in Sipalay City and Del Carmen, Siargao.
